Synauta is a cleantech startup collaborating with desalination innovators across Europe, Australia, the Middle East and North America. Together these companies share our goal of reducing energy and chemical use in desalination.
Vision, mission and values
Our story
Water is efficient. It is a substance repurposed for millenia in a natural cycle that makes all life possible on earth.
But water is taken for granted. Even in the face of climate change, industry and communities continue to waste water, along with the energy and chemicals required to treat and transport it.
The Synauta team never takes water for granted; we know how much effort it takes to deliver the right quality and quantity at the right time and place.
We’re constantly inspired by the efficiency of water, and we reflect that in the products we make to optimize desalination, as well as in our day to day work. Waste frustrates us and, like water, we will seek to find the easiest way to where we need to go. We’re big fans of being in a flow state, and one could say we have too many water puns!
As a team of passionate desalination and software professionals we want the world to manage water and energy as efficiently as possible. We’re proud of our deep understanding of industrial processes, software development, data science and water markets. We also know that at the end of the day, technology is an enabler of change, but people are the change makers.

Awards
2022 Global Water Intelligence Breakthrough Technology Company of the Year
GWI proudly announced the winners of the 2022 Global Water Awards. The awards were presented at the Global Water Summit on 17 May 2022 at the La Quinta De Jarama in Madrid, Spain. Synauta won the Breakthrough Technology Company of the Year category for our solution to save OPEX using machine learning to optimize energy and chemical use in desalination and water reuse plants around the world.
2020 Global Water Intelligence Tech Idol Distinction
Picking winners at an early stage is extremely difficult but Tech Idol has a remarkable success rate, highlighting the potential of breakthrough technologies such as NanoH2O, Voltea and Gradiant, well before the rest of the market had twigged to their advantages. Following a video submission, we pitched live before the judges and were awarded a Distinction for our Desal Software as a Service.
2020 Momentum Technology Start-Up Winner
Synauta was selected as the winner from 10 finalists and more than 60 applicants. The Momentum Technology Pitch Competition was launched in 2020 by a group of startup angel investors, venture capitalists, and startup advisors to help to connect investors and government with early-stage Canadian technology startups in emerging technology sectors.
